I really wanted to like this Mad Monkey as I’ve stayed in others before, but I would personally recommend coming here for a drink during the day but staying somewhere better in town. It is FAR from the main town - a 40ish minute scooter ride or $16 tuk tuk. The reviews mention that it’s outside town, but I didn’t realize quite how far. Don’t stay here if you don’t have a scooter. Was expecting big things considering it’s reputation, but left extremely disappointed. We paid £160 for 4 nights in a private room, that compromised of a tiny box room, in which the bed took up more than half of the floor space, and a thin cloth was the only form of privacy/protection from outside. I stayed at Mad Monkey in Manila and had high expectations of this place. However, there are certain fundamental issues that need to be addressed with respect to furniture. I was in a 6 bed dorm and the bed was constantly shaking due to the unstable furnishing of the floor. This meant that sleeping was a task.
